Leslie Kuo Design + Photo is a studio for interdisciplinary practice in graphic design, photography and language.

I grew up in California, but moved to New Haven to study biology at Yale. There, my interest steadily shifted to art and design. In addition to immersing myself in studio and art history courses, I also became an apprentice and then master printer at a historic Yale letterpress and the Yale Arts of the Book Collection.

After my degree, I continued to work in New Haven as the Communications Director of Artspace, the acclaimed non-profit center for contemporary art, and as an independent photographer and designer.

In 2006, I established my own studio in Berlin where I use design, photography, and writing to connect the dots between the things that fascinate me: art, books, cities, public space, plants, the grassroots, community gardens, German, English, wayfinding, ways, means and meanings.
